As I watch the Eagles playing each weekend, it is definitely a series of ups and downs.  They either start out great or start out horrible, and then they switch as the game goes on.  I KNOW they players and coaches would benefit from the energy coaching and healing work that I do.  I could help them trust their instincts more, help those lineman be more grounded so they don’t get pushed around so much, help those receivers trust that their body knows what to do…

The Cure For Summer Busyness

Remember how back in February and March we couldn’t wait until the lazy days of summer?  What happened to that? Graduations, graduation parties,  forth of July parties, hosting friend and family get-togethers, etc.  Even our vacations usually consist of running around! 

Why is it that when summer arrives we continue in our crazy busyness instead of taking time to slow down and relax?  Why can’t we just enjoy our lives?  And for most people, even when we do take time to relax, we fret about what we should be doing, or when we go back to what we were doing, we fret about the time we wasted.

Why do we do this?  Several reasons, I think.  These may not popular, but ponder these before you dismiss them.  One is that is our society places much value on being busy.  If we’re not busy, we’re not successful.  Therefore, we have much invested in being busy.  (especially as moms, right?)

Do many outwardly successful people that you know talk about how much fun their life is?  How peaceful they feel?  How fulfilled?  Or do they always talk about EVERYTHING THEY HAVE TO DO, like it’s such a burden.  If busyness is how we gauge success, when why do we complain about it?  Tap, Tap, Tap.

Another reason I think many people can’t relax (and I myself was one of these people until lots of EFT and other releasing work), is because if we sit down for too long, our internal “stuff” comes up. (this is not a conscious decision, mind you.  it’s our subconscious protecting us)   What stuff?  Anything we don’t want to face about ourselves or our lives.  Could be anger or sadness related to childhood, our marriage, our job, our children.  Staying busy means we don’t have time to be introspective.  We don’t have to look at our stuff.

But when we don’t look at our stuff, we never process it so we can move on. Talk therapy brings up our issues, but mostly just reminds us of them without removing the trigger.  Now, talk therapy with tapping, that’s a way to process and remove.  Working with a coach that uses releasing techniques (such as EFT or intuitive energy work) to help you feel better is another way.

Let’s do some tapping on summer busyness:

Karate Chop:  Even though I’m so incredibly busy, I love and accept myself anyway.  Even though I can’t sit down for too long, because I don’t want to think, I accept who I am and how I feel.  Even though I wanted my summer to be relaxing, and it is anything but, I choose to do things differently now.

Eyebrow:  I’m so busy!
Side of the Eye:  Busy, Busy, Busy
Under the Eye: Life is supposed to be busy, right?
Under Nose:  Busyness = success, right?
Chin: I thought my summer would be relaxing
Collarbone: It certainly hasn’t been
Under Arm:  What happened to the lazy days of summer?
Top of Head:  I want my summer back!

Eyebrow: Even when I have time, I can’t sit down and do nothing
Side of the Eye: Sitting down is lazy, not successful
Under the Eye: But I want to relax
Under Nose:  What a conflict!
Chin: I want to relax, but I don’t have time
Collarbone: What if I could relax?
Under Arm: Wouldn’t that be nice?
Top of Head:  Can I allow myself to relax?

Take a deep breath.  If you feel triggered by any of this, do that tapping again.  Otherwise continue on…

Now for some positive tapping:

Eyebrow: I’m ready to relax now
Side of the Eye: Next time I have free time, I choose to relax, rather than think up another project
Under the Eye: I’m allowing myself to relax
Under Nose:  I’m entitled to a break
Chin: I can take one day off a week and the world won’t fall apart
Collarbone: I feel more relaxed already
Under Arm: I’m done with all that busyness
Top of Head:  Relaxation is a priority for me now.

Do these tapping sequences as many times as you need, varying the words to fit your specific situation.

Now, stop wishing for a relaxing summer and, with the help of tapping, create one!

Intention and Resistance

I’m listening to Dr. Wayne Dyer’s The Power of Intention right now.  I have the CD’s, so I’m listening in 10 to 20 minute increments as I go about my errands and drive to and from work.  I love so much of what he is saying.

One thing I’m learning is that many teachers like Dr. Dyer, Bob Doyle, Abraham Hicks, David Morelli, and so many others (even biblical teachings) are all using different language to say the same thing.

They are all saying that inside each of us is the power to create our world.  Whether you call that something your soul, energy, essence, God, power, the matrix, the field of intention, love, source, universe, even the mind—it’s all the same.  We each create our reality with our thoughts, and our thoughts create what we perceive around us.  And it’s the “something” within us that does it.

It’s taken me several years to really wrap my head around this, so I won’t be upset if you disagree with me.  But even the Bible says that God is love, the kingdom of heaven is within you, and God is everywhere.  If this is true, then heaven is inside us just waiting to be let out, and we are the love which makes it all possible.

All of the law of attraction experts teach that ‘our thoughts create our reality’, and ‘what we focus on expands’.  Dr. Dyer’s way of discussing the issue is to say that what when we focus on what is “missing” in our lives, we get more of what’s missing!  If we focus on money being missing, we get more of money being missing.  If we focus on what’s missing in our relationships, we get more of that.  If we focus on what’s missing in our children (ie what they do that we think is “wrong”), we get more of that. Or, if you focus on “it’s always been this way”, we get more of that.

What if, instead, we focused on what we LOVE?  Then we would get MORE OF THAT!

Abraham says lots of people have “what-is-it is,” meaning we can’t see beyond the current situation.  But we can train ourselves to look at and focus on what we DO want, instead of what we have right now.  Don’t love your job?  What do you want?  Don’t like your bank account?  What do you want?  Don’t like your car?  What do you want?

If we turn our attention and intention to what we do want, the universe (or whatever you want to call it) will begin to make it happen.  Focusing on our intent, what we want, and releasing the resistance to it, are key.  You can change your focus to what you want, but if you are resisting it, you still won’t get it. 

This all sounds hard, doesn’t it?

It doesn’t have to be.  There are many techniques for releasing resistance, like meditation,  yoga, EFT/tapping, the POP technique (a new one I have learned) and many, many others.  You simply need to find your ‘resistance releaser’ of choice, and use it often.

I’m working on this myself, but I’m getting closer and closer to having everything that I want.  I can feel it.  Are you ready to start (or continue on) your journey to what you want?

Here are some tapping sequences to help you focus on Intention:

Karate Chop: Even though it’s hard to keep my focus on what I want, instead of what I have, I intend to get better at it every day.  Even though I don’t know how to phrase my intentions, I accept who I am and how I feel today.  Even though it’s all hard, I accept myself and I choose to change my life starting right now.

Eyebrow: I don’t know how to do intentions
Side of the Eye: I’ve done intentions but they haven’t worked
Under the Eye: I have too much resistance
Under Nose:  I want my intentions to work
Chin: I can change my life with my intentions
Collarbone: No I can’t, it’s too hard
Under Arm: Saying it’s too hard is “what-is-itis”
Top of Head:  What if I could begin to change my life?

Karate Chop: I wonder if setting intentions could change my life?
Eyebrow: It probably couldn’t hurt!
Side of the Eye: I intend to start setting intentions today!
Under the Eye: My intentions are what I WANT, and are stated in positive language
Under Nose:  I know my life will change if I do this consistently
Chin: I intend to release resistance to the life that I want, beginning right now
Collarbone: I intend to choose my life, not be a victim of my life.
Under Arm: What’s the first thing I want to intend?
Top of Head:  I intend _____________________________

Take a deep breath.  Repeat often, and tap on your intentions every day.  Tap on your resistance to what you want each and every time you feel it.  If you do this consistently, you will notice your life changing around you.

Today is Women’s Empowerment Day.  How do women become empowered?  I think it’s by owning our power.  If we can’t own our own power, then no one else will.  Maybe women hold so few political offices in the country because we tend to be more afraid of our power than men are.  Women will hide their power, men will flaunt it.  Women who DO own their power and flaunt it are usually called nasty names by the press and others in power, men or women.  We sabotage our own success, our own power because it does not seem to be safe to shine.

While we can’t change the media or other’s reactions to us, we can change how we feel inside, and become comfortable with our power, with the help of a little tapping.  So, let’s do some tapping to help us own our power.  Guys can do this too, of course.

Karate chop: Even though I’m afraid to own my power, I love and accept myself.  Even though I’m afraid of what they’ll say if I own my power, I accept who I am and how I feel.  Even though I’ve never been powerful, I’m open to the possibility of being powerful now.

Eyebrow: I’m not powerful
Side of the Eye: I’ve never been powerful
Under the Eye: It’s dangerous to be powerful
Under Nose:  I won’t be safe if I’m powerful
Chin: No women in my family are powerful
Collarbone: Why do I have to be the trailblazer?
Under Arm: I don’t think women can be feminine and powerful
Top of Head:  I don’t want to be seen like Hillary Clinton or Lynne Abraham are seen
Eyebrow: What if I don’t want to be powerful
Side of the Eye: What if I’m happy the way I am?
Under the Eye: Actually, it’s not true
Under Nose:  I’m not happy the way things are
Chin: I do think women should be able to own their power and not suffer for it
Collarbone:  What if I could own my power?
Under Arm: How would my life change if I owned my power?
Top of Head:  I’m worried about that

Take a deep breath.  Tapping can stir up old feelings and memories.  They are coming up so you can release them now.  What thoughts came to you while you were doing that tapping?  If particular thoughts, emotions or events are coming up in your mind, write them down and make your own phrases and do more tapping.  Just talk about them while you are tapping through the points.  You can’t do this wrong.  Once those feelings have calmed down, proceed to the next sequences.

Karate Chop: Even though I’m still kind of afraid of my power, I’m willing to consider that maybe I am powerful.  Even though being powerful seems scary, I’m ready to take that chance.  Even though I used to worry about what others thought of me, I’m ready to step into my power now.

Eyebrow:  I’m ready to own my power
Side of the Eye: It feels so good to own my power
Under the Eye: It feels natural to accept my personal power and let it shine
Under Nose:  I love feeling powerful!
Chin: It’s so exciting to know that I am powerful
Collarbone:  I’m not concerned about what others think of my power
Under Arm: I can control my thoughts, but not theirs
Top of Head:  I am woman, hear me roar!

Feel free to do that tapping more than once.  Take a deep breath.  Doesn’t that feel good?  Go get ‘em tiger!

Access Your Creativity

I’ve never considered myself a creative person.  I can’t draw or paint or write poetry.  I can sing a little, but never had lessons or anything.  I don’t play an instrument or write songs.  So when a friend told me that I am very creative, it really gave me pause.  What?  I’m creative?  She said yes-look at all that you have created in your life.

As I thought more about it, I realized she’s right!  While I may not be artistic, I have created a lot in my life.  I’ve created a marriage and a family, a law firm and an energy coaching business, some nice websites (TheGuiltyMom.com is especially cool and has the potential to help thousands of moms- shameless self promotion), the crazy gardens around my house, etc.

Just because I’m not artistic doesn’t mean that I’m not creative.  What an epiphany.

I’ll bet I’m not the only one who feels this way.  How many of you don’t think of yourself as creative?  But I bet if you look around you life, you’ll see many wonderful things that you’ve created (and maybe some not so wonderful, but we all have created everything around us-that’s another article on the law of attraction).

If you could begin to recognize your innate creativity, you will be able to create even more great stuff in your life.  So, let’s do some tapping on this:

Karate Chop:  Even though I’m not creative, I love and accept myself.  Even though I don’t know how to make things, I accept who I am and how I feel.  Even though I know I’m not creative, I open to the possibility that maybe I can be.

Eyebrow: I’m not creative.
Side of the Eye: I can’t sing or draw or write.
Under the Eye: That’s what creative people do, right?
Under Nose:  That’s not who I am.
Chin: I don’t make things.
Collarbone: You have to make things to be creative.
Under Arm: What if I am creative?
Top of Head:  No, I know that I’m not.

Eyebrow: I’m not good at creative stuff.
Side of the Eye: That’s not what I do.
Under the Eye: I break stuff, I don’t create it.
Under Nose:  What if I’m wrong?
Chin: What if I do create stuff?
Collarbone: Maybe it’s not fine art, but I think I have created things.
Under Arm: But no one is interested in what I create.
Top of Head:  Who am I kidding, I’m not creative.

Take a deep breath and notice your thoughts.  Jot down any thoughts that came up and tap on them now.  Once you have cleared some of your negative emotions around this, move to the next tapping sequence.

Continue tapping.
Eyebrow: I’ve changed my mind.
Side of the Eye: I am creative.
Under the Eye: I’ve created so many great things in my life.
Under Nose:  Just because it’s not art, doesn’t mean it’s not creative.
Chin: Just living my life is a form of creativity.
Collarbone: I love knowing that I’m creative!
Under Arm: It takes many types of creativity to make the world go ‘round.

Top of Head:  My creativity is different than anyone else’s.
Eyebrow: I love MY brand of creativity.
Side of the Eye: It’s just right for me.
Under the Eye: Look at all the wonderful things I’ve created.
Under Nose:  I’m ready to create more.
Chin: I accept that I’m a creative person.
Collarbone: I can’t wait to create something else.
Under Arm: I create my life.
Top of Head:  I look forward to creating my life even better then it is right now.

Take a deep breath, get a drink of water and notice your thoughts.  Jot down any thoughts that came up and tap on them now.  Now go out there and make something!
